Despite the rain, Nathan still wanted to have a cookout, so while the boys grilled, the girls started a game of catch phrase (which became the game of the night!) The game resumed after dinner girls vs. boys and sadly, i think the girls lost more than we won! We found this beauty when we went downtown:
Another one to add to the boy's collection!

The football game was ridiculous. I always wondered what would happen if it started lightning during a football game, and now I know. Sadly, I was one of the many fans that left and didn't come back. We decided to go get lunch (& margarita's) at Poncho's--yum!

But today, :) , today, I got fitted for my wedding dress! Let me just say that my life has become too busy, and I'm very unhappy about it to be honest. I value having downtime. This semester, it seems that won't be the case. Between school, my internship (aka work at cvs), wedding planning, applying to pharmacy school, and making an e-portfolio for graduation (how annoying), I find myself slacking on what I want to do and even what I need to do for school. So, if I don't blog or if they suck, bear with me. I haven't figured out how this semester will work yet.

Hopefully, more to come soon.

Breathe in...Football...Breathe out

First football game of senior year was overall great! I for one, loved our tailgate. It was great just to hang out with friends in preparation for the game. Two things we should work on: a light for after the game & more coolers so we can keep all the food cold during the game. Oh yeah, and rain gear. We tailgated near Clemson House which made the trek downtown for shopping, or window looking, accessible. I finally got my Clemson '09 sticker. Which, the semester is crazy with school and my internship. I feel so busy all the time. Our condo turned out to be completely awesome! We were a block from the beach and right on the canal.

We spent our time on the beautiful white sandy beach, kicking around in the heated pool, and relaxing in the hot tub. Aside from the uh, "overly friendly" old women one night, we had the pools to ourselves. We went out for St. Patty's day, hoping to find an Irish celebration, sadly we only found a beachy imitation of one...kinda. We went out for dinner later in the week at a cute marina-side restaurant that was semi-outside. Their fried shrimp was delicious!

The boys spent their time kite flying. While the girls spent enjoyed chatting (when they could pull me away from my book).

And of course Nathan tried to get me to go for a swim in the gulf--too cold for my big toe!

Spring Break: Full Bend & Snap! I cooked stuffed pasta. I modified a recipe I found on cooks.com but it turned out delicious! I also made asparagus, bought some french bread, and a Biltmore wine. I also decorated the table and the porch, with the blinds shut it didn't even feel like Kelly & Carmen were spying like I suspect they were!

After dinner, we went out with Kyndall for her birthday :) The next morning Nathan brought me Bo-berry biscuits. Our first stop was Wolfe Camera. We made a photobook of the pictures from Ocean Isle & our engagement. I really like it and now we have something tangible to remember it by. After that we headed over to the shops at Woodruff which is somewhere I love going. Nathan and I shopped around a little--hit our favorite spot World Market!--and then grabbed dinner at Panera's. Now don't knock Panera's. It's one of my favorite places and Nathan just made a major purchase afterall :). We came home after getting dessert and watched Roadanthe. I definitely cried. Before the game began I was hopeful that we would at least play a good game, but I definitely was expecting an amazing win! I was just excited enough to be in the same "room" as Coach K (flippin awesome!). But WOAH!!! Clemson totally shocked me and blew Duke out of the water! We played with such skill and finesse! Watching Coach K sub in his whole line-up (yup, all 5 of them) at least 3 times was amusing and gratifying at the same time. It made the game even sweeter that I didn't have to wait in line for tickets ;-) I think I could ride this high all night, but alas, I need sleep.

OPP (yeah, you know me!): Full Bend & Snap

Punks in the parking lot who would not stinking let us out---Take yo broke self home. (Aren't you excited Rob?!) I thought it was so fun! I was so scared when we first left. Well, before we even left, Nathan gave me a firm talking to about the "importance of keeping my tires inflated" ::yawn:: We did a quick test run around the Woodlands, and then I was supposed to ride down the steep hill to cross onto 93. I was sure my brakes would fail me and I would be flattened on the busy road; however, I made it safely across into Ingles parking lot. I made Nathan do at least 2 laps just around Ingles with me until I felt confident that I wouldn't fall over and could actually change gears successfully.

Once we got going towards Central, I felt like I could fly!! I doubt Nathan thought I was flying though...I'm sure he was bored with my slow pace but as always, he was very patient with me.

Only one downer--I have to get a new bike seat. Holy cow!! That was painful! There has to be a better bike seat for females out there. I was using Nathan's old seat that he even said was uncomfortable...guess I should have believed him.

Trophy of Snaps for the first road bike ride!

Life Changing

So I've had a monumental life-changing moment--I'm engaged!! There is know way I can express my excitement in a blog post--that's just not me at all. Just know that Nathan did everything perfect. The day leading up, the way he proposed, the place, the ring, just everything! We have decided on a date--though it won't be until we both graduate. Think next summer. So if you know any body good for flowers, dresses, invitations, photographs, cakes, catering, etc, etc, etc. Please send me their info.

Eh, that's enough for the blog. All of us, SB, Chad, Justin, Nathan, and I were so pumped up about it. We get to the field and noticed a view vendors packing up, but this didn't phase us. We were still going to at least get a funnel cake and walk around a bit. When we passed the ticket booth and realized no one was there to take our money, we realized we had a problem. We had gotten there too late. Nothing was still "open". It was the saddest Oktoberfest ever. We did get a funnel cake though from a vendor in Wahalla (why there was a funnel cake truck at the stoplight, I have no idea).

We thought we'd eat at the Wahalla steak house, but no it was closed too. So we went to Walmart to buy our pumpkins (we were going to celebrate fall somehow!) to carve later that night. We decided to eat dinner at Atami's, but it too was closed. Luckily the mexican restaurant near it was open--and it was yummy!!!

It was an afternoon of letdowns, but somehow, it was still a really fun afternoon! I don't think it could have been better! We had so much fun not doing what we had planned to do. Nathan took my car to his apartment Friday night to make things easier to get to the football game yesterday. During the night, someone stole my gas. I had at least a half a tank of gas!! I always set a trip meter when I fill up at the gas station to have another "gas gauge." Normally a tank of gas lasts about 400 miles. Dad was the one who realized I was out of gas. He thought I asked him to drive my car because I was almost out of gas in hopes that he would fill it up for me. I knew I should have had half a tank of gas so I asked Dad what my trip meter said--202 miles. My car was so low on gas that Dad was worried he wouldn't make it to a gas station. Being that gas is scarce and 80,000 people came to the Clemson game, Dad had to buy premium gas for my car. I'm so ticked that someone stole my gas! The new Xterra gas tanks don't even look like they open from the outside! I'm going to find a locking gas cap before I put any more gas in my car. This is ridiculous. I don't use my car that much since I bike to class, but I need to have it to go to work and get around at night. I hope Clemson gets some more gas soon!

A Creek Bath

So, I've finally done it--I've bathed in a creek! And now that I've done it, I have no desire to bathe in a mountain creek ever again. In mid-August, I never knew a creek could have been so stinking cold! It must have been close to 60 degrees. To be honest, I was completely peer pressured into it. Carmen kept telling me I would regret it forever if I didn't do it. I think she just wanted me to be as cold as she was. Either way, next time, I'll choose my creeks better. All in all, Boone was a good trip. I'd love to go again. I just can't seem to make myself actually stop and do this, so sorry to all of you who have been hanging by a thread to hear my newest mind blowing thoughts. :-)

This weekend, Nathan and I went to Irmo to visit his family. Saturday morning we went blueberry picking with his mom. I hadn't been blueberry picking since I was a small child. I had a blast! It was weird though because I actually had full, visual memories of the last time I had gone. I must have been between 3 and 4. I remember Dad had to hold me so I could pick the berries. Between Nathan, his mom, and I, we picked 16 pounds of blueberries! (yummy pie, here I come) I think Nathan discovered his new purpose in life--holding down the tall blueberry branches that no one can reach so the rest of us could pick at lightning speed.

So, if you have any good recipes...blueberry jam, blueberry muffins, blueberry cheesecake, blueberry anything, send them my way!

Changes

Change always seems to hit so fast and unexpectedly. Just when you get into the groove of things, change happens. You graduate high school. Summer ends. You buy a mac. The OC stops recording. You move to college. People move away. It's inevitable, so why does it always seem so surprising when it happens? If it is indeed inevitable, why do we expect things to stay the same?

So many things are changing at dcf--new house churches, pastors leaving, new pastors on the horizons. It's exciting but at the same time, disappointing. I mean, I don't want Winn or Nathan to leave, but then on the other hand, I don't know who God has in store for dcf.

Whenever I start thinking about change, I think about that stupid book, "Who Moved my Cheese" that Mom made me read in 8th grade when we moved to Greenville. It's all about how people respond to change. The mice look all cute and fun on the cover of the book, but I hated that book. It was not cute and fun.

Change happens.

music

There's got to be a wrong way to listen to music. I would never normally agree to this statement, but after enduring about 2 songs, I have found someone who has no idea how to listen to music. First off, you shouldn't claim to have amazing taste in music if you always listen to pop--where's the quality? Secondly, turning the base up to like +8 and the treble down to -4 when you listen to Love Song by Sara Bareilles, just doesn't work. I mean, maybe if it was R&B or hip hop or maybe even jazz, but the song is PIANO driven....hopeless. It's not like you're Victor Wooten or anything.

Love Song

But, at least the song is kinda catchy...the lyrics are a little deeper than the bouncy feel of the song though so it's kind of a weird blend of cheer and drear.

The blogging begins!

So, I don't really know why I've begun blogging--I guess it's the peer pressure. I mean anyone who's cool blogs, right? Or maybe its the idea that I can leave a permanent record of my thoughts that can't be lost or damaged in a hurricane. Or, maybe Rob and Nathan were beginning to make me feel like a slacker. I can't promise anything highly intellectually stimulating or rolling on the floor hilarious but who knows, maybe I'll surprise myself along the way.
